Tried and Tested: Keeping the Family Entertained with Your TV

The first thing you notice about this TV is just how good it looks! It has the ‘wow’ factor that’ll make your friends do a double take as soon as they enter the room.

But if like a good relationship you want more than just good looks, then you won’t be disappointed with the Samsung QLED Q80T.

With the kids being at home more lately, the TV has never been so important. It’s hard to believe that growing up we only had four channels to pick from, whereas now and in particular with this TV, the kids can lose themselves in all the things it can do. Quite simply, it’s more than just a TV – it’s an entertainment centre!

While there’s no Freeview Play tuner (on the UK edition of the set), all of the UK terrestrial catch-up TV channels come included, along with Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus, Rakuten TV, Apple TV and YouTube (subscriptions required, of course!)

Like so many families, we have hugely enjoyed ‘PE with Joe’ on YouTube, so having a TV that allows us to transform our lounge into a workout area rather than a place to huddle around a tablet has been a real treat. Our five-year-old, Finn, is master of the controls and takes great pride in loading up the next PE session for us all each day. Remotes are so 2011 for Finn; he operates the TV strictly by voice control which has brought a huge sense of fun to the house as the twins now also want to do it.

Speaking of voice controls, the inclusion of ‘Alexa’ as standard on this TV is brilliant – while my wife, Dani likes to use it for our shopping list, the kids like to refer to ‘Alexa’ for random sea-life facts and turning the sound up and down. Personally, I think it’s a great little addition to have on hand when you’re watching a programme and just need to know something about a cast member or the like.

In summary, this TV has everything for a growing family, not only is the picture and sound brilliant but it’s easy to navigate and quite literally has something to keep every family member happy. Above all, we have found having the apps we use so often on our mobile devices available to us on the big screen highly convenient. I highly recommend it.
