I love pastel shades generally, and they go hand in hand with springtime and Easter. I decided to create some decorated eggs that would look delicate and pretty on a pastel inspired Easter table, either on place settings, in a bowl, or possibly hung from some branches in a vase. You could even make them into an egg garland if you so fancied!

here's what you'll need...

  • Eggs
  • Paint
  • Brushes
  • Self adhesive fabric ((I got mine from The Makery)
  • Needle or pin
  • Scissors

here's how it's done...

Firstly you need to empty the eggs of their contents. To do this, pierce a small hole at the top of the egg with your needle/pin, and a slightly larger hole at the bottom. Poke the needle inside and move it around to agitate the yoke and break it up a little.

Place a bowl underneath and then blow through the small hole at the top and the contents should start to run out through the bottom hole. Do this until the egg feels empty. Be careful that you don’’t smash the eggs by holding too tightly (I may have done that a couple of times!). Give the eggs a rinse and leave to dry.

Next, you need to paint the eggs. Paint one half of the egg and then place it in the egg box or an egg cup to dry. Then paint the other half. You’’ll probably need a couple of coats to get a nice even finish.

Once you eggs are dry, you can add your fabric embellishments. Feel free to get creative here. I added stripes, triangles a zig zag and covered one egg completely by cutting small pieces of the fabric sticker and piecing them together.

A great project for getting the kids to help with, and you’’ll have some beautifully spring inspired decorations for the Easter period!
