    Crafts: Paper Picnic Fans

These cute fans will keep you cool and the bugs away during National Picnic Week and beyond!

"One of the greatest joys of summer is eating al fresco. Either in your own garden, an outdoor restaurant area, or a simple picnic in the park or countryside. Next week is in fact National Picnic Week, so while we all keep our fingers tightly crossed for some sunshine, why not whip up some paper fans in anticipation?! Take them along to fan yourself in the (hopefully!) hot sun, or even just for batting away bugs who take a fancy to your sandwiches!"

    Here's what you'll need...

    • Thin printer card (approx 160-200gsm)
    • Spray mount
    • Pretty wrapping paper
    • Scissors
    • Flat wooden sticks (I got mine on Etsy)
    • Our template

    Here's how they're done... Step 1

Print off the template onto your card – one template makes one fan, so print as many sheets for as many fans as you plan to make.

    Step 2

Carefully cut out all of the ovals.

    Step 3

Use the card ovals to draw round onto your wrapping paper.

    Step 4

Cut out all your wrapping paper ovals.

    Step 5

Using your spray mount, stick a wrapping paper oval to each card oval. You may need to do some trimming if you don’t get the alignment perfect.

    Step 6

For each fan, match up 2 ovals and a wooden stick. Sandwich the stick between the two ovals and spray mount them together.

It couldn’t be simpler! Feel free to get inventive with shapes and designs for your fans too. They are also great for a wedding on a hot day to keep your guests cool!
