In our digital age, there are always opportunities to snap a few photos, and there’’s no better time to share a photo to your Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat than when you’re having a great time at a party. If you’re the host of that party, then why not provide your guests with a simple photo backdrop to create some fantastic memories?

A DIY photo backdrop really doesn’’t need to be that complicated. Even if you’’re planning something last-minute, it doesn’’t take a lot of skill, nor will it take you much time to create. In fact, the whole thing can be done in less than 10 minutes, and it still creates an amazing backdrop for all those inevitable photos! Even better, you don’’t need any kind of sewing or crafting skills, it’’s fully removable and reusable and it’’s actually pretty inexpensive as well. I picked my fabric up from an auction website for around £9 per metre.

I used Command Strip hooks for this project because they are easy to hang and can be removed without damaging your walls; great as your backdrop will be temporary! You can really choose any fabric you like for this, but the sequinned fabric really sparkles with the fairy lights and makes things so much more festive if it’’s a Christmas or New Year’ party.

here's what you'll need...

  • 2 metres of sequinned dress fabric
  • Medium-weight Command Hooks
  • Safety pins
  • Ribbon
  • A few strings of fairy lights for behind and in front of backdrop

What youll need

tip

I used three hooks as my fabric was quite wide (about 54””), but you may only need two. It just depends upon the width of your fabric but the wider it is, the larger your backdrop and thus, the more support it will need. If it’’s quite wide, you’’ll probably be best off using three hooks.
