Autumn comfort food at its finest, give these cinnamon apple slices and caramel sauce a try!

"These sweet and crispy apple slices dipped in gooey caramel sauce make the perfect snack for a cosy night in this autumn. Easy and quick to make, you’ll wish it was movie night every night!"

    Here's what you'll need...

    For the cinnamon apple slices:

    • 4 large apples (like Bramley or Granny Smith), peeled, cored and sliced
    • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
    • 2 tbsp brown sugar
    • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

    For the caramel sauce:

    • 100 g caster sugar
    • 50 g unsalted butter
    • 120 ml double cream
    • Pinch of salt

    Here's how its done...

    Step 1

In a large frying pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and cinnamon, stirring to combine. Toss in the apple slices and cook gently for 8–10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the apples are tender but still hold their shape.

    Step 2

Meanwhile, in a clean saucepan, melt the caster sugar over medium heat without stirring, swirling the pan occasionally until it turns a deep amber colour. Remove from heat and carefully add the butter, stirring until smooth. Slowly pour in the double cream while stirring continuously—be cautious as it may bubble. Stir in a pinch of salt and let the sauce cool slightly.

    Step 3

Arrange the cinnamon apple slices on plates and drizzle generously with the warm caramel sauce. Serve as is or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for ultimate autumn comfort.
