On Wednesday 8th April, in partnership with Hotpoint, we welcomed some of our favourite bloggers down to Halifax for a day packed full of fun activities for the parents and their children to get involved in. The day itself encouraged our visitors to join the fight against household allergies and make homes a safe haven this Spring!
We started by welcoming our guests to the venue with a continental breakfast and a chance for the bloggers and their accompanying little ones to mingle and get to know one another.
Everyone got stuck in pretty quickly as many of the Mums knew one another, and some finally got the chance to put faces to names!
The morning kicked off with a short presentation on what activities were planned and how we would all be allergenius’ by the end of the day.
The kids wasted no time in getting stuck in to the activities we had on offer!
The craft session involved making fun spring flowers, which you too can have a go at by following this blog post.
Lisa of Hollybobbs gets stuck into our craft session with her children.
There were some very impressive flower creations!
Everybody loves a treasure hunt, but this time, instead of searching for Easter eggs, the aim was to seek out where dustmites can be found within a living room setting. The kids managed to find them all in record time.
The children even got stuck into a spot of hoovering, which I bet all of the Mums were pleased to see!
We held a colouring competition, which gave the children a chance to win a Hotpoint washing machine or tumble dryer for their parents!
The kids all had fun playing games.
Whilst the Mums learnt more about the Hotpoint products available which help to eliminate allergens.
James from Hotpoint talked to the bloggers about their range of washing machines and tumble dryers available with anti-allergy washing cycles. The advantages of these cycles are an increased use of water during the washing phase to better dissolve detergent and three additional rinses to wash away all traces of detergent and allergens. Thanks to high temperatures and the number of rinses, the anti-allergy cycles can wash away dog and cat allergens, pollen and house dustmites.
One in four people in the EU suffer from allergies, the most common being skin allergies, rashes and hay fever. A common issue, which doesn’t help with these allergies, is hanging clothes outside where they act as a pollen trap.
After a very busy morning packed full of fun activities, our bloggers and their children were handed their goodie bags, which were filled with an array of treats including Lisa Faulkner’s cookbook, an AO apron and some yummy cupcakes!
The bloggers were then free to spend the rest of the day having fun at Eureka! The day was a real success but it couldn’t have been possible without the help of all of our bloggers, our co-hosts Hotpoint and also Allergy UK. A big thank you to everyone who came, we hope you all enjoyed the day as much as we did!
