Under the Island starts with Nia moving to Seashell Island, where her new home is doomed to sink beneath the ocean. Teaming up with a local girl called Avocado, she sets out to work out why, digging through 6 regions of a lush, pixel-art world that hides a very old secret. Along the way she encounters sentient greenhouses and frozen caverns. Sawmills need picking apart, while cook-offs await, lost cats need reuniting with their owners, and cereal pirates are best avoided. Combat is a little odd too, with vomiting aubergines and tunnelling wolves to deal with using the artefacts and loot you find, then adding new abilities to the mix. Feed a few treats to the local animals and they might just fight your corner.
