    What Is GDPR?

Everything you need to know about the EU’s new data protection law.

From the 25th May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation will be in effect. This changes how businesses like AO gather and handle the information that you give us and it gives you more control over what we do with it.

    What effect does GDPR have?

With GDPR, companies need to be more responsible with the personal data of their customers and employees. Companies need to be clear with what information they’re collecting, how long they keep it for and how they plan on protecting it.

At AO, we’re committed to being transparent about any personal data we have, why we’re using it and how long we will hold it for. Your privacy is incredibly important to us, which is why any information you give to us will be kept safe and secure.

    What is personal data?

Personal data is classed as information about you that some companies may use. This includes details like your name, age and email address. You can freely ask a business to share what information they have.

    What happens after Brexit?

In 2019, the UK will say goodbye to the European Union which means that we won’t follow the same regulations as other countries in the EU.

Instead, the UK Government has passed a new law, the Data Protection Act 2018, which will include all the provisions of GDPR subject to some exceptions. This will make the UK fit for the digital age and empower people to take control of their data.
