Accept & closeCosy down on the sofa with a homemade hot drink that can rival your favourite coffee shop. If you’re after something on the sweeter side, a mocha made from your very own coffee machine will just hit the spot.
Our guide's got everything you need to strike the perfect balance. But the first step is mastering a delicious shot of espresso.
Need a chocolatey treat? A mocha blends espresso with steamed milk and cocoa powder, syrup, or melted chocolate for a sweet coffee twist. Typically served in a 230–310ml cup, it has a rich chocolate-coffee flavour and a texture you can customise.
Ingredients:
Add a couple of scoops of flaked chocolate to your cup, brew a double shot of espresso and pour on top of the chocolate. Mix until smooth.
Steam the milk a bit hotter than usual – that’ll make up for the temperature drop from adding the chocolate. Use more air for a frothier texture or less for a silky texture – that part’s up to you.
Tap the jug and swirl it to disperse any bigger bubbles and pour the steamed/frothed milk into the chocolate-espresso mix. Stir gently to blend.
Add a dollop of whipped cream or a light layer of foam and dust with cocoa powder or chocolate sprinkles for an extra treat.
Swap chocolate flakes out for melted chocolate, cocoa powder, or chocolate syrup to suit your taste.
Use dark chocolate for a rich flavour or choose milk chocolate for a sweeter taste.
Take inspiration from your favourite coffee shops and try different things, like a white chocolate mocha.
Experiment with flavoured syrups like hazelnut, peppermint, or cinnamon for a seasonal twist.
Infuse milk with spices before steaming – we recommend cinnamon.
