    Tablets for children tips

Offering her advice on what parents should be looking out for when they’re tablet shopping for their children.

Stephanie delves into a few topics and explains features like durability and battery life should be at the forefront of your mind.

    Age range

If the tablet is going to be shared between children of different ages, make sure it offers lots of different programmes and apps to suit everyone. If it is shared between a young adult/adult and a child, ensure the tablet can be set up with different logins so the children can’t access inappropriate information.

    Consider the purpose

Will your child be using it purely for entertainment or potentially to help with homework. You might need to be able to access the internet or apps like YouTube or YouTube Kids, so ensure it isn’t built for just entertainment purposes.

    Durability

For younger children, think about durability, might it be dropped or bumped about a lot? If so, a lot of tablets now come with a durable case already on them. For younger children these tend to have handles and legs, while for older children these tend to be smaller and thinner cases but still protect the device.

    Battery life

This is an important feature as you want a device with a long battery life, think long car journeys, film durations etc. Tablets with a longer battery life will easily enable videos and games being played connected to Wi-Fi or out and about. Aim for eight hours or more if possible.
