The nation’s favourite coffee styles
When it comes to café-style drinks, lattes take the crown with 22% of Brits choosing them as their favourite. But tastes vary across the generations:
- Gen Z prefer hot chocolate over coffee.
- Millennials & the Silent Generation favour lattes.
- Gen X & Baby Boomers prefer cappuccinos.
The nation's favourite coffee machines
Over a third (37%) use their coffee machine daily, proving we really do love café-style drinks at home. Our survey also found that:
- 44% of Brits don’t own a coffee machine.
- 22% own a pod coffee machine.
- 15% have an espresso coffee machine.
- 14% own a filter machine.
- 9% own a bean to cup machine.
- 18% use a cafetière (French press).
Coffee habits by region
Drink preferences change depending on where you live. Here’s how the UK stacks up:
- Lattes are drunk the most in East Midlands.
- Cappuccinos are drunk the most in the Northwest & West Midlands.
- Hot chocolates are drunk the most in Wales.
- Tea is drunk the most in Northeast.
- Americanos are drunk the most in East of England.
- Flat whites are drunk the most in Southwest.
- Espresso is drunk the most in Greater London.
- Iced coffee is drunk the most in Wales.
- Mochas are drunk the most in Northeast.
- Chai tea lattes are drunk the most in Greater London.
- Matcha is drunk the most in Northern Ireland.
