DIY: Make Your Own Copper Pink Coasters

Create handmade gifts for your loved ones this Christmas!

"Christmas really is creeping up, so it’s time to start thinking about gifts and if you are hosting, how to style your Christmas table! Copper accents are still super on trend and I am curently loving it mixed with blush pink. These handmade coasters will make a lovely gift or you could go for something a little different for your Christmas décor colour scheme and let them inspire your table design. Add other copper and pink touches for a modern take on the festive look!"

    Here's what you'll need...

    • a cork tile
    • copper spray paint
    • pink paint ( I used a sample pot of Fired Earth Rose Bay)
    • craft knife or stanley knife
    • brushes
    • masking tape
    • cutting mat is optional – you can also use some thick card for cutting on

    Here's how it's done... Step 1

Use something circular to draw around onto your cork. I used a large based mug.

    Step 2

Carefully cut out the circles using your scalpel.

    Step 3

In a ventilated area (outdoors ideally) spray the shinier side of the cork with copper spray paint. Leave to dry.

    Step 4

Paint on your designs using the pink paint. You can either do them all the same or different. Use masking tape to get straight lines, or draw around a circular object if you’d like curved lines. You will probably need at least two coats of this paint.

If you plan to give them as a gift, stack a set of four or six together and tie them with ribbon, string or yarn. You friends will appreciate that you have made them something special by hand, and you will have saved yourself a pretty penny this Christmas!
