First things first, you’ll need to choose a type of washing machine. There’s either built-in (also called integrated) or freestanding. Both fit snugly under your kitchen counter, but with a few small differences - built-in models are hidden behind a cupboard door, while freestanding models aren’t. You can also put it anywhere with a water supply, so you’re not restricted to just the kitchen. And if you’d prefer a two-in-one machine, Hotpoint’s range of washer dryers are worth a look. Want something other than standard white? We’ve also got silver, grey and black models available too. 

Next, you’ll want to decide which programmes you’re most likely to use. If you prefer fast cycles, find a model with Rapid 30 – a speedy programme for getting clothes clean in just 30 minutes. Or the Anti-Stain cycle found on the Hotpoint aquarius washing machine is fab for outdoor lovers. After releasing the detergent, it gradually increases the temperature to 40°C – getting rid of 20 of the most common stains.

Choosing the right capacity

7kg and below tend to be the perfect fit for smaller families or couples, while 8 to 9kg suit medium-sized families. Hotpoint also have spacious 10 and 11kg capacities for large households with lots of laundry to get through.

Measuring for your Hotpoint washing machine

To make sure your new appliance fits where you want it to on delivery day, you’ll have to take measurements of the space before ordering. Most machines sit at 85cm tall. This makes them the standard height to fit under counters. 

If you’re getting a freestanding model, measure the width, depth, and height of the space. Built-in models sit behind a cupboard door, so you’ll need to measure that too. Your new washer will need connected to the water pipes to work, so leave an extra 7cm at the back to account for this.
