Where should I put my TV?

You’ve finally found the one, your perfect TV. Now all that’s left to do is decide where it lives. And trust us, placement makes a big difference.

Get it right and everything looks better, sounds better, and feels more immersive (yes, even those last-minute match winners). Get it wrong and you’re dealing with glare, awkward angles and neck strain. No thanks.

Let’s get you set up properly.

    Start with your viewing position

Before you even think about wall mounts or cabinets, think about where you’ll be sitting.

    Aim for eye level
Your TV should sit so you can watch it comfortably without tilting your head.

    • The centre of the screen should be around 40–42 inches from the floor
    • This lines up with eye level when you’re sat on the sofa

Quick tip: Sit in your usual spot and imagine a straight line from your eyes to the wall. That’s roughly where the middle of your TV should go.

    Avoid glare (and overheating)

Bright sunlight might make your room look great, but it’s not doing your TV any favours.

    Why it matters:

    • Glare can make the screen hard to see
    • Constant sunlight can dull brightness over time
    • Heat build-up can even affect performance

    Easy fixes:

    • Close blinds or curtains during the brightest part of the day
    • Go for an anti-glare screen if your room gets lots of light
    • Wall mount in a shaded area
    • Try not to place your TV directly opposite or right next to a window

    Wall-mounted or on a stand?

This one’s all about style and practicality.

    Keep it away from heat

It might seem like a cosy idea, but TVs and heat sources don’t mix well.

    Avoid placing your TV:

    • Above fireplaces
    • Near radiators

Too much heat can damage internal components and shorten your TV's lifespan.

If you don’t have another option

    • Leave a gap between the TV and the heat source
    • Use an adjustable wall mount to give it some breathing space

    Don’t forget about sound

Picture’s only half the experience – don’t forget that sound matters too.

    For better audio:

    Avoid tight spaces

Avoid placing your TV tight in corners or against walls

    Upgrade your audio

Add a soundbar for a fuller, richer sound

    Speaker placement matters

Position speakers at ear level where possible

    That’s a wrap

A great TV deserves a great setup. Take a few extra minutes to get the position just right, and you’ll notice the difference every time you press play, whether it’s movie night or match day.
