The top gaming consoles available right now are the PlayStation® 5, the Xbox Series X and S, and the Nintendo Switch.
The Xbox Series X currently has the most powerful hardware, with a 12-teraflop graphics card compared to the PlayStation® 5’s 10.28 teraflops. That means games look clearer and sharper, with better performance at 4K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
If you want to play online with people from around the world, then the PlayStation® 5 and Xbox Series consoles are a great choice with their range of multiplayer games. But if you’d prefer to play together on the sofa, the Nintendo Switch offers the best local multiplayer options.
If you just want to sit down and play, then a gaming console is the perfect choice. That’s because you only need to plug it in and turn it on – there are no complicated or time-consuming options and settings to sort out. Once they’re connected to your TV and they’ve downloaded any updates they might need you can get straight to gaming.
The PlayStation® 5 has its very own dedicated virtual reality headset called PlayStation®VR2, while the Nintendo Switch can play games in VR using the Nintendo Labo™ kit. The Xbox Series consoles, however, don’t officially support VR.
