Retro looks paired with a proper two-oven setup, that's the idea behind this Smeg Victoria freestanding cooker. The main oven holds 61 litres across four shelf positions and runs from 50 to 245°C, while the smaller 35-litre oven above it adds a grill, so a roast chicken can take its time downstairs while sausages brown upstairs. On the hob, the double crown burner peaks at 4200 Watts for getting a wok properly hot, and the three remaining gas burners give you flame you can read at a glance.

Cleaning is no drama here. The steam function uses only a little water to soften baked-on grease, and the enamel lining inside both cavities stops fat gripping the walls in the first place. Inner door glasses lift out for a full wipe down, and the tangential cooling fan moves air from the door up to the splashback. Automatic ignition lights each burner at the turn of a knob, and a thermocouple cuts the gas if a flame blows out. Made in Italy.
