Cooker Hood Troubleshooting Guide
Unless you like to cook in a cloud of smoke, it’s important that your cooker hood stays in tip top condition. In most cases if something goes wrong, we’d always recommend contacting a qualified engineer. However, our FAQs may help with some minor issues, whether that’s working out how often you should replace the filters or figuring out why your hood isn’t recirculating air properly.

- Why is my cooker hood so noisy?
It might be because of the ducting. If your ducting isn’t straight and moving around corners, this could be causing noise. If your hood is recirculating the air, check the filters aren’t loose, or that you’re not using it on its maximum setting all the time.
- The hood isn't recirculating the air properly
This might be because the grease filters or carbon filter are blocked or need replacing. You can easily unclip the grease filters and give them a clean to remove any grease that might be blocking the airflow.
- The light won't come on
If it’s a normal halogen bulb then it’ll just need replacing. If it’s not working and it’s an LED light, then you’ll need to call a manufacturer engineer.
- How do I know what filters I need?
If you’re ducting out, then you don’t need any extra filters. If you’re using your hood for recirculating purposes, then you’ll need to speak to your manufacturer for the right carbon filters.
- How often should I replace the filters?
If you’re using the hood for recirculating purposes, the carbon filters need replacing every 6 months.
- My ducted hood doesn't seem to be working as efficiently
You could be ducting it too far away from the hood, as the efficiency does drop the further you vent.
