What happened at Microsoft’s E3 2018 show?

We take a look at the biggest games Microsoft announced at E3 2018.

From far off planets to crazy alternate futures, we’ve got the lowdown on the most highly anticipated titles announced at E3 2018. We’re putting Microsoft under the microscope and looking at the top 7 games we can’t wait to play on Xbox.

Halo Infinite

Straight off the bat, Microsoft showed off a teaser trailer for Halo Infinite. It was packed with breath-taking environments and ended with a short glimpse of the game’s iconic hero.

They’re keeping their cards close to their chest, but we do know Halo Infinite will be exclusive to Xbox consoles. We’re not even sure when it will get released, but we’ve been assured it will be Master Chief’s “greatest adventure yet.”

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Next up, Microsoft got to announce From Software’s latest game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Set in a dark and twisted Japan, you’ll need your wits about you if you’re going to survive this new game.

If you’re familiar with Demon Souls, Dark Souls or Bloodborne, you know what to expect. Challenging gameplay, grotesque enemies and utterly brutal boss fights lie ahead. We’ll have to wait until early 2019 until we can get our hands on it, but we can’t wait.

Forza Horizon 4

Set in good ol’ Blighty, Forza Horizon 4 lets you drive the fastest cars around. Instead of being stuck in the M62 traffic, you’ll be weaving through city streets and drifting across amazing British countryside at breakneck speeds.

The British weather also plays a huge part in the game. The different seasons alter the way you drive, opening up new paths when the weather changes. And because you’re driving in a shared world, you’ll be able to see other players, challenge your friends to a race and compete against people around the world. You won’t have to wait long either, as Forza Horizon 4 will be crossing the finishing line in October 2018.

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit

After all the high-octane action, this one took us a bit by surprise. From the same people who made Life is Strange and set in the same universe, The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit follows Chris and his crazy quests.

In this game, you’ll get to know Chris as he plays around the house and interacts with his family. Whether you’re a fan of Life is Strange or not, this will be worth having a go. It’s designed to remind you what being a kid is all about - full of imagination, with the world at your fingertips. What’s really surprising is that this game is free to play, and out on the 26th June!

Fallout 76

Microsoft also gave us a closer look at the highly anticipated Fallout 76. If you’re unfamiliar with the series, it’s all about journeying out into post-apocalyptic America after emerging out of mysterious and sinister Vaults.

A prequel to other games in the series, you’ll play as one of the first people to see this brave new world. Playing with others, you’ll be fending off dangers, rebuilding society and trying your best to get John Denver out of your head in this West Virginian wasteland.

Gears of War

We saw not one, not two but three new Gears of War games announced. Gears Pop is coming out for mobile devices, Tactics is a turn-based strategy game and Gears 5 is the next title in the main series.

Fans of the series will know what’s in store. As Kait goes on a journey of discovery, you can bet she’ll face intense battles against armies of enemies. Gears 5 comes out in 2019 so gear up and get ready, soldier!

Cyberpunk 2077

Microsoft closed their E3 2018 show with a world premiere of Cyberpunk 2077. Set in a crazy tech-filled world, you’ll explore Night City as you get to know more about the mega-corporations that have a tight grip on society.

We’re not sure when Cyberpunk 2077 will be released but we’ve got a good feeling about this. It’s going to be something special and we cannot wait.

That's not all...

Microsoft announced loads more games at E3 2018. Kingdom Hearts 3 will be coming to Xbox One, Session brings back radical skating gameplay and even Battletoads is making a return (ask your parents).

In terms of tech, Microsoft are working on revolutionary technology that lets you stream console-quality games on any device, so hopefully that means playing Halo on the morning commute. They also teased that the next generation of Xbox consoles are on the way. It’ll be a while until we get more information, but colour us intrigued!
